2024 Update

2024 saw me visit 521 new bars, continuing a 3-year run of >500 bars a year, and bringing me to a total of 6,051 bars visited. These included the oldest bar I have visited so far, the Medieval Tavern U Krále Brabantského, in Prague, Czech Republic, said to have been established in 1375, and also not one but two floating bars in Turks & Caicos. I completed the project to visit one bar in every municipality within certain counties in Pennsylvania, completing this goal in Butler and Washington counties (for a total now of 4 counties), with Westmoreland and Armstrong counties next up. On 7/1/2024 I completed my project to visit all 50 states (although I still have not yet been to a bar in Alaska).

One of my goals is to visit at least one bar in every municipality in Western PA with at least one bar. I am tracking this by county. (I'm also tracking Bucks County because, while it is further away, it is my favorite county in PA.)

As you can see from the numbers above, I have now been to 311 bars within the city limits of Pittsburgh, a city I estimate to contain about 450 bars at any given time. I am striving to visit every bar in Pittsburgh, but as this is always a moving target (as bars close and new bars open) it is difficult to estimate when I will complete this.
